I was at the T’ang Quartet‘s 21st anniversary concert last Saturday at the School of the Arts (SOTA) concert hall, and while waiting for the concert to start, I spotted someone taking a photo of the empty stage and chairs using her smart phone. Like most people nowadays, she probably wanted to post it to… Continue reading Ridiculous Photography Bans Need to Stop

The group shot to fame on YouTube, garnering a total of over 260 million views on their YouTube channel. A Spectacular End to the Singapore Night Festival 2013
After 2 weekends of nocturnal activities, the Singapore Night Festival 2013 drew to a close with a spectacular performance by local illusionists JC Sum and “Magic Babe” Ning. Titled “Ultimate Inversion”, the performance had the duo strapped up in 2 strait jackets each, suspended upside down and hauled up 75 ft into the air on… Continue reading A Spectacular End to the Singapore Night Festival 2013
Singapore Night Festival 2013: Night Lights
Like last year, this year’s Singapore Night Festival also features several light installations spread over the festival grounds. This year, some of the installations introduced interactive elements, allowing the visitors to be a part of the artwork instead of just being passive displays. Here are some of them I visited over the last weekend. The… Continue reading Singapore Night Festival 2013: Night Lights

The Singapore Night Festival 2013 is billed as the largest so far, stretching from Plaza Singapura… Continue reading Singapore Night Festival 2013 Week 1 Highlights
Remembering the Queenstown Cinema and Bowling Alley
In 2010, a group of friends and I went to Queenstown to take some photos of the place as I’ve heard that several buildings there were going to be demolished soon. Maybe I wasn’t that inspired by the photos that I’ve made on that day but I chucked the photos away on my hard disk… Continue reading Remembering the Queenstown Cinema and Bowling Alley

I was going through my Twitter feed on my iPhone today morning when I came across a tweet from National Geographic (@natgeo) featuring a collection of reader-submitted Supermoon photos. As I had also submitted a few of mine to them as part of their #supermoon weekend hashtag assignment, I clicked through to see if by… Continue reading Featured On National Geographic’s Web Site and Flickr Blog
Supermoon Redux
Last year, I set out to shoot the Supermoon but it was thwarted by the cloudy weather and I came home without any shots of it. This year, the Supermoon came by again and I decided to give it another go. However, irresponsible Indonesian farmers decided to use the ancient “Slash and burn” technique of… Continue reading Supermoon Redux
A Very Different Marina Bay
A little over 9 years ago, a group of photographers and myself got into a room at the Swissotel the Stamford to do a shoot of the skyline at a high vantage point. It was slightly hazy and overcast, but thankfully cleared up by the evening and we were able to get some decent night… Continue reading A Very Different Marina Bay
Photographing Lightning
It was a dark and stormy night. Frequent bolts of lightning lit up the night sky followed by the rumble of thunder. I never really captured lightning with my camera so I decided to give it a try and quickly set up my camera on the tripod and pointed it out of the window.
